Point Lookout
Gorge Walk
The iconic Gorge Walk is a must-do experience. This 1.2 kilometre walk follows the rocky headlands of Point Lookout. Enjoy expansive headland views overlooking the Pacific Ocean on one side and coastal bushland and unique Australian wildlife, including kangaroos and wallabies, to the other.
Surfing & Surf School
One of the favourite activities on Straddie is taking advantage of the local surf breaks.
If you’re new to the sport, North Stradbroke Surf School offers one-on-one or small group lessons.
You’ll take on the breaks alongside coaches who have a wealth of surfing experience and coaching knowledge, some of whom have been teaching on the island for over 30 years!
Lessons are held on the famous Cylinder Beach, a protected break perfect for learning.

Amity Point
Fishing & Boating
Amity Point is one of Straddie’s most loved spots for boating and fishing, thanks to its calm bay waters and easy access to the Rainbow Channel. There’s a public boat ramp at the Amity Point Foreshore (Clayton Road) with trailer parking, making it simple to launch and explore Moreton Bay.
The Amity Point Jetty is a local favourite for land-based fishing, especially around sunrise and sunset. The surrounding sand flats and channels are popular for crabbing and estuary fishing, while boaties can head out into deeper waters. The sheltered conditions also make it ideal for kayaking and small boats.
Dolphin & Koala Spotting
Amity Point is one of the easiest places on Straddie to see wildlife up close. Koalas regularly rest in the gum trees throughout the village — especially along the quiet residential streets and near the foreshore — so keep an eye out for a sleepy grey shape in the branches above you.
Down by the water, the calm bay is home to dolphins that often cruise past the jetty, particularly in the late afternoon, around sunset
Amity Sunsets
Because Amity Point faces west across Moreton Bay, it’s the best place on Straddie to watch the sun go down. In the late afternoon the shoreline glows golden, and the silhouettes of boats make a beautiful backdrop for photos. Locals and visitors alike gather along the foreshore and near the jetty to unwind at the end of the day — often spotting dolphins passing by as the sky shifts through pinks, oranges and purples. It’s a relaxed, slow-paced Straddie moment and the perfect way to finish a day.
Dunwich
QUAMPI Art & Culture Centre
QUAMPI is the First Nations owned and operated Arts and Cultural Centre on Minjerribah (North Stradbroke Island) overlooking the serene waters of Deanbilla Bay. Led by culture, guided by story, and grounded in Country. It is the gathering of the Quandamooka spirit that Elders, young people and community inherit and continue with pride and respect.
As a dynamic cultural hub, QUAMPI offers rich, authentic experiences that engage and inspire, making it a meaningful destination for tourists and visitors as well as providing a creative and cultural space for professional partnerships and engagement.
QUAMPI includes spaces for exhibitions, performances, residencies, education, and quiet reflection. Featuring the Elders Space, outdoor ‘yarning circles’, Gift Shop, Café and Conference rooms for hire. The gift shop offers visitors an opportunity to take home a memento of their experience on Minjerribah.
NSI Museum on Minjerribah
NSI Museum on Minjerribah is a social history museum emphasising contemporary collecting. The museum’s objective and rationale is to represent the 65,000 years or so of Aboriginal history, the British invasion and colonisation and a complex shared history of less than 200 years. Our Walking Together program is an active process to properly engage with, document and display the shared journey of living together on Minjerribah and that the museum is on unceded Quandamooka Lands. The essence is that our social history is Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal; sometime in conflict; sometime in cooperation.
Brown Lake
Also known as Bummiera, Brown Lake is a stunning rainwater lake on North Stradbroke Island (Minjerribah), located just outside Dunwich (Goompi). Its unique brown colour comes from tannins in surrounding melaleuca and tea-tree bushland, making it one of the island’s most iconic natural attractions.
Bummiera is of deep cultural significance to the Quandamooka People, the Traditional Owners of Minjerribah.
A favourite swimming spot, Brown Lake offers picnic tables, wood-fired barbecues, composting toilets, and scenic bushwalking trails. Visitors can enjoy spotting native wildlife and seasonal wildflowers in a peaceful setting.
Blue Lake
Blue Lake is an area of special cultural significance for Quandamooka people who call the lake Karboora, meaning ‘deep silent pool’. The Blue Lake area is within the Naree Budjong Djara National Park. Please enjoy the experience and leave only footprints. Walk the 5.2km (return) track to the lake through wallum woodlands, flowering heath, and stunted eucalypts. Wear good walking shoes, take a hat and water. Medium level of fitness required.
